Station Number 1

This station was built in 1975 and replaced Gallatin's original Fire Station Number 1, which was located at the original City Hall building on west Main Street. Station Number 1 units respond to the largest area in the city spanning northeast of the city including downtown, and along Old Hickory Lake and Cumberland River.
The large red cylinder in the foreground of the picture is the siren that was atop the original fire station and police station. It was used to notify the city's firefighters of a fire and to warn residents of a tornado. The siren is still in working order and was used to warn residents during the April 2006 tornado that struck Gallatin.
