GALLATIN, Tenn. — Popularity for the sport of pickleball has picked up steam in the Gallatin community.

Gallatin Parks and Recreation has nine courts: three flex indoor courts, and six outdoor courts that opened in July 2022.

"Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the nation," Gallatin Parks and Recreation Director David F. Brown said. "We were fortunate enough to build six permanent, dedicated [outdoor] pickleball courts."

Since opening the new courts, Brown said the numbers of players in the community has dramatically increased.

"We're thrilled to death to have over 200 players," Brown said. "We love to see people out using the parks. It's just another amenity that the city has provided."

If you're interested in playing pickleball in Gallatin, the indoor courts are $3 per person a day and open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Gallatin Civic Center. The outdoor pickleball courts are free to use by the public and are open from dawn to dusk.
